NISPOM download
The current National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (DoD 5220.22-M)
was issued in February 2006 and twelve Industrial Security Letters (ISLs) have been
issued by the Defense Security Service between then and October 2011. The Defense
Security Service issues ISLs occasionally for "information and clarification of existing
policy and requirements." Companies and organizations with a facility security clearance
are required to comply with guidance that the Defense Security Service puts forth in ISLs
in addition to that in the NISPOM. Thus, rather than relying on only the NISPOM for
guidance, we recommend downloading the NISPOM combined with all the Industrial
Security Letters we offer here.
